Note: PicoCTR must be updated before you install the device into your controller.
Updating PicoCTR firmware
- Download the latest PicoCTR firmware for your device from https://github.com/ACustomArcade/pico-ctr-firmware/releases
- Plug the PicoCTR into your PC using the USB-A to USB-A cable that came with your controller
- Once connected, a USB drive will be mounted with the label RPI-RP2
- If the drive does not appear, hold down the BOOT button on the PicoCTR and press RESET.
- Simply drop the downloaded firmware onto the USB drive. The USB drive will disappear.

Using the built-in RGB Controller
PicoCTR includes a built-in WS2812B RGB controller and is capable of controlling 5V WS2812B light strips and buttons. An optional RGB adapter is required for standard and RGB LEDs.
Note: PicoCTR is capable of driving ~128 RGB LEDs when powered by the 12V power supply in the ALU. RGB functionality will not work when powered by USB only. If you notice your LEDs are extremely dim or just aren’t working, you may need to “inject” an external 5V power supply into the chain. This will not be necessary when using the optional RGB adapter.
PicoCTR implements the AdaLight protocol for RGB control. Any software capable of controlling AdaLight devices should work. Please consult with the software vendors for help with installing and configuring their software.
